Dashboard Studio Templates

Overview​

Dashboard Studio Templates is an Atlas Power Utility that provides reusable Splunk Dashboard Studio layouts and examples. It helps teams create clean, consistent, and visually effective dashboards without building every layout from scratch.

The utility includes Futuristic and Minimalist design themes. Each theme provides examples and starting layouts that can be adapted to your data and use case. Dashboard Studio Templates is available without an active Atlas license.

Open Dashboard Studio Templates from Power Utilities, then select a theme from the navigation menu.

Dashboard Studio Templates does not require separate utility-level configuration in Atlas Settings.

Capabilities​

  • Select Futuristic or Minimalist dashboard themes.
  • Start from populated examples or reusable empty layouts.
  • Review the README guidance included with each template dashboard.
  • Save a template as a copy, then adapt its searches, visualizations, and layout.

Template dashboards​

The utility includes four template dashboards. Each dashboard has multiple tabs that provide modular layouts or examples for a particular theme.

  • Futuristic Templates Examples: populated examples that demonstrate the Futuristic theme.
  • Futuristic Templates Layouts: reusable Futuristic layouts with placeholders for your data.
  • Minimalist Templates Empty: Minimalist layouts ready to be populated with your data.
  • Minimalist Templates Examples: populated examples that demonstrate the Minimalist theme.

Theme navigation and README guidance​

Select a theme from the navigation menu, then choose the template dashboard that best matches the dashboard you want to create. Start with the README tab to understand the theme, the dashboard's intended use, and the recommended customization workflow. Use populated examples to see how a completed dashboard can be organized; use an empty layout when creating a new dashboard.

Save and customize a template​

Select Save As to create your own copy of the chosen dashboard or layout. Remove panels, sections, and tabs that are not needed, then replace placeholder searches and visualizations with your own SPL and data. Update titles, labels, descriptions, and other dashboard text to reflect the new use case.

Templates are intentionally modular. Keep the panels and sections that support your use case, and remove the rest. Starting from an empty layout helps preserve the theme's intended spacing, styling, and visual consistency while allowing you to tailor the dashboard to your environment.

Layout actions​

  • Keep the design focused by avoiding unnecessary panels or visual styles.
  • Prioritize data clarity so the most important information is easy to understand.
  • When changing a visualization type, review its styling and remove background colors or other settings that no longer fit the new visualization.
  • Save or download a cleaned source dashboard when you want to reuse the same structure for a related use case.

After you save a copy, it is a standard Splunk Dashboard Studio dashboard that you can continue to configure in Splunk.
