Data Hub Overview

Data Hub enables teams to manage dataset definitions, improve data governance workflows, and better understand data utilization across Splunk environments. It incorporates features from the Atlas Elements Data Management and Data Utilization, with additional usability improvements. Data Hub can be reached by Atlas users with access to the feature by selecting its icon on the side navigation bar.

Key Features

Data Hub Page

  • Centralized workspace for dataset and definition workflows.
  • Review data by index, index sourcetype, and index sourcetype source.
  • Use inline edits and bulk updates to support faster updates to definitions when your role allows them.
  • Send bulk email reports for selected datasets to designated recipients and, when needed, their dataset owners.
  • Review utilization per dataset, with a modal to drill down to related knowledge objects.
  • Review SPL run on searches directly.

Permissions

Data Hub respects Atlas role-based access control.

  • Atlas Viewer: Can review dataset definitions, utilization summaries, and related drilldown details, but cannot edit definitions.
  • Atlas Creator: Can review and edit Data Definitions, including supported bulk email reporting.
  • Atlas Admin: Full control over Data Definitions, bulk email reporting, and supporting configuration workflows.
